Accelerated Doctorate Degree Curriculum
All PhD programs will require that you perform some coursework. The accelerated programs are able to condense the time required for part of the PhD by offering shorter quarters. Quarters are typically only 6-8 weeks long, rather than the traditional 12 weeks long. Also, subsequent quarters will start right after the previous, allowing for more classes to be taken in any given academic year.
Completing Your Dissertation
Getting through the coursework section of a PhD program will allow you to get to your dissertation faster. The length of time it takes to get your dissertation research done will fall on you. Some students work very hard and can complete this portion within a year, while others take 2-3 years.
There are a few requirements for these accelerated programs, however. You must already have your master’s degree. The programs are very demanding, so it is important that you have a lot of self drive and motivation to get your work done because in this type of environment it is very easy to fall behind.
