Accredited Online PhD Programs vs. Campus Programs

What makes online PhD programs different from regular campus based programs? They both have the requirements that closely mirror each other. First, both programs require that students complete a certain number of courses. This will vary by university and subject matter. Online programs as it sounds, allow students to do all of their coursework online. There may be some campus based residencies, however. These are typically short and consist of a long weekend or week long campus visit.

Both online and campus based programs will also require that students prepare a dissertation. This will be the same for both sets of students. The rate at which a student can complete this section of the program will greatly depend on the amount of time that a student can commit to the research. All dissertations will have to be defended in front of a university board. This is the same for both online and on campus programs.

Earning your PhD degree is more accessible than ever before. There are many more online PhD programs that can allow you to earn your degree at a place and time that is convenient to you. This allows you to continue in your current field.
