Online programs will closely mirror their traditional counterparts. The main difference is that the coursework portion of the program is typically 100 percent online giving students a lot of flexibility in their studies. Online universities generally do not follow a traditional academic calendar allowing students can take more classes more quickly. Semesters last just 6-8 weeks depending on the program. This lets students to get to the dissertation portion of the program faster in many instances.
